BYD, CATL, and Geely are racing to see who can offer the fastest charging time in China: Hongqi can charge its battery to 70 percent in 221 seconds. BYD also built 10,000 charging stations in six months.
In Europe, fast charging for electric cars is still measured in minutes. People are proud when an electric car charges in 18 minutes. Mercedes-Benz is currently working on a model that’s supposed to charge in 11 minutes. However, that will be quite expensive, according to the American industry website Electrek.
