New VR headset with integrated tracking

According to KHS, the VR glasses (VR = Virtual Reality) have also been significantly further developed. While a comparatively complex external tracking system with two or four calibratable stands was used before, KHS now works with tracking integrated into the glasses. All that is needed for this is the VR glasses, two joysticks, and a laptop on which the data can be displayed. This makes the setup much simpler and quicker to use, KHS notes to this innovation.

More planning security and trust

The same applies to the conversion of the data recorded by the scanner into a VR-capable format. With the improved system, data processing, which used to take several weeks, now only takes a few minutes, as KHS emphasizes. This means that any modeled KHS line can be projected onto the VR glasses in the shortest possible time—even direct integration into the point cloud from a laser scan is possible. This results in a decisive advantage! Because KHS can let customers experience virtually in an early planning phase how the potential new line or machine looks in reality and how it fits into the local conditions. This strengthens planning security and trust.

The interplay of mobile laser scanners and VR glasses with integrated tracking is completely new in the industry, according to KHS experts. They are confident to be one of the few on the market so far who have married the scan directly with 3D planning and can integrate it into customer presentations from the very beginning. The service has already been successfully used by various users in German-speaking countries, as KHS notes. By the end of the year, they are aiming for global implementation, so that beverage producers at all international locations can benefit from the advantages in real time.
