Clean, replace, modify, and test...

At the cylinder, the Röhm specialists cleaned the distributor shaft and pistons. At the chuck, they cleaned the pistons, the pendulum pins, the pendulum bridges, the centering ring, the bearing pins, the carriers, joint locks, toggle levers, and the yoke. During this process, minor modifications were made to the chuck to enhance its ease of use. Where possible, Röhm reinstalled the refurbished old parts. At times, work was carried out simultaneously on site and in the factory on chuck components to meet the demanding schedule and to implement tasks that could only be determined after opening the chuck immediately. As part of the refurbishment process, all components and parts underwent the appropriate inspections before and after assembly. After reassembly, the centering accuracy and pendulum compensation for raw parts and round workpieces were checked, as well as the repeatability when clamped concentrically. Before being shipped back to the customer, the pistons also had to be tested on the Röhm test stand to check for pneumatic and hydraulic tightness. The test for the tightness of the central lubrication system lasted 24 hours, but everything passed successfully.

Röhm proves to be the right clamping technology expert

For Röhm CEO Gerhard Glanz, the maintenance project is a prime example of service quality at Röhm. He comments, "We are not just manufacturers of clamping, gripping, and handling technology, but also strong in the corresponding services." When a chuck runs like new after 17 years, it impressively shows that they are the right provider. For Glanz, this is an impressive after-sales service in the double XXL sense: "I can only congratulate our team." In the service area, Röhm offers its customers the following services: repair service for catalog items, on-site clamping force measurement with certification, repair service for special clamping devices, commissioning and start-up support, preventive maintenance, spare parts delivery and maintenance kits, and a retrofit for the smart clamping jaw i-Jaw with real-time clamping force measurement.
