With the Kastosort tower, Kasto combines sawing, sorting and storage in one system and enables automated processes even where space is limited.

The Kastosort tower brings more productivity in a minimum of space and enables automation even where space is at a premium. One special feature is the newly designed material flow: Previously, only the storage system supplied the saw with long material—now the saw also feeds a storage system with cut parts. According to the manufacturer, the workpieces are stored directly and sorted according to order.

The Kastosort tower offers users numerous advantages that support them in optimizing their warehouse and logistics processes. As an independent complete solution, it enables reliable 24/7 automation, with which work processes can be handled efficiently around the clock. Thanks to its high storage density in a minimal space, the system makes a significant contribution to saving space. The flexible and time-independent collection of pallets also provides more freedom in planning and reduces waiting times. The Procontrol control system ensures error-free processes, while the Kastologic mobile app enables seamless tracking of all processes. In addition, the Kastosort tower offers the option of an individual connection to automated guided vehicles (AGVs), making it a future-proof solution for modern intralogistics. The Kastosort tower is particularly interesting for companies that already use a Kastovariospeed or Kastotec high-performance saw, whether with or without a Kastosort robot. Thanks to the combination of sawing, sorting and storage, existing systems can be flexibly expanded and made even more efficient.

Kastosort Tower Convinces in Practical Use

The fact that the Kastosort tower is not just a good idea on paper is demonstrated by its use at the Westfälische Stahlgesellschaft group of companies. This includes trading companies in various regions of Germany and, with the Plettenberg drawing plant, its own bright steel production for high-quality steel bar products. In spring 2025, Kasto installed the first Kastosort tower at the Stuhr-Brinkum site (near Bremen, Germany) to supplement an existing automated system consisting of a Kastovariospeed C18 production circular saw and the associated Kastosort robot. "We are now considerably more flexible," reports André Barsuhn, Head of Saw Planning. "We can now run up to 4,000 units without interruption. That's a great thing. Even ghost shifts at the weekend are no problem." Instead of only being able to use three storage locations as before, the company now has significantly more space for sorting and storing with the Kastosort tower. The solution is particularly ideal for the frequently required diameters of 6 to 7 inches with cut-off lengths of between 1 and 1.5 inches. The system was so promising from the outset that the site in Löhne (East Westphalia) was also to be expanded with it. According to the press release, the second Kastosort tower was successfully put into operation there in early 2026.

The combination of efficiency, flexibility and space-saving did not go unnoticed: according to the manufacturer, the Kastosort tower received several awards from relevant trade journals in 2024. The awards confirm that Kasto's system precisely addresses the challenges faced by metalworking companies and offers a tailor-made solution. "Our aim was to create a fully automated system for confined spaces—and that's exactly what we've achieved with the Kastosort tower," emphasizes Sönke Krebber, member of the management board. "The awards and practical successes show We have hit the nerve of the market."
