Humanoid robots are modeled on humans. But does this really make sense? Or are we emulating an ideal that may not even be suitable for the tasks at hand?
Humanoid robots are considered the next big evolutionary step in automation. Machines that move like humans, adapt flexibly to different environments and can take on a variety of tasks without being specifically designed for a single application embody a vision that is as fascinating as it is ambitious. It draws on technological advances as well as cultural images and decades of science fiction.
