Two Special Features Assist in the Processing of Stents

According to Aerotech, the tube laser system is compatible with the Automation-1 motion controller from Fürth. This supports, among other things, the Position Synchronized Output (PSO) function, which enables precise synchronization of laser pulses and axis movement. Additionally, Enhanced Tracking Control (ETC) is available, a feature that reduces path errors during fast and complex contours. Both features are particularly relevant for the production of stents, where tight geometry tolerances and short cycle times are equally required, as the manufacturer notes. Laser-cut cylindrical medical products are ultimately used in coronary and neurovascular stents, structural heart components, peripheral vascular implants, and instruments for minimally invasive procedures. The workpieces range from a few millimeters to lengths over one meter. With the available selection of rotary stage drives and collet options, the Laserturn 280 is already designed for a wide range of components in this sector. It can thus address medical technology trends towards smaller parts, tighter tolerances, and higher production volumes.
