Open RAN meets Industry 4.0.

Cloud RAN promises a highly scalable network deployment on standard hardware, as well as synergies with cloud-based industrial applications, due to a completely new architectural approach. It also creates a modern and sustainable IT infrastructure for a wide range of industrial applications. The underlying project extends the existing infrastructure at the 5G Industry Campus Europe and opens up completely new possibilities for project partners in this sector, as the researchers emphasize. Here, Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network) effectively meets Industry 4.0, Ericsson notes. The expansion of the 5G Industry Campus Europe with Ericsson's Cloud RAN technology demonstrates that the project continues to play a leading role worldwide in the deployment of 5G technology in the production context. The collaboration once again emphasizes Ericsson's leading role in the industrialization of Open RAN.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) under the funding identification number 11-12212 from April 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024. In addition to IPT and Ericsson, the following partners are also involved:
