Geely's premium subsidiary Zeekr has significantly reduced the charging time of its electric car batteries. A now introduced new variant with lithium iron phosphate chemistry is supposed to be able to fill from 10 to 80 percent in 10.5 minutes, the company reports.

The C-rate of the battery is 5.5, so theoretically, the storage could be charged 5.5 times per hour. Today, usual C numbers are between 2 and 3, some Chinese battery manufacturers claim a rate of 5 or 6 for their batteries.

The new battery is expected to make its series debut in the Zeekr 007 in the fall. Whether the mid-size sedan in the Tesla Model 3 format is coming to Europe is still uncertain.
