Third place goes to the large card motif from Atelier Jörg Mohme (original in the middle). A French retailer used the motif from the series "African Impressions" as a decoration for a 35-piece porcelain series. As the retailer was unrepentant and disputed the copyright eligibility, Mohme filed a lawsuit. According to Aktion Plagiarius, this led to a nerve-wracking process lasting 9 years. The court in Lyon confirmed the copyright protection of the original as well as the existence of an infringement and ordered the retailer to cease and desist and to pay substantial damages. "The simple, fair solution would have been to request the use of the motif against a licensing fee," said the association. (Image: Aktion Plagiarius e.V.) 6/8 Back to the Article
