Such cameras see far more than "just" colors. They measure image data in wavelength ranges that go far beyond what the human eye can perceive. On the Moon, this allows information about the mineralogical composition of the surface to be recorded, mapped, and quantified. Researchers have tested measuring tools and robots in the LUNA Hall that can detect water ice on the Moon.
