Heinrich Kipp Werk: Detectable standard and operating parts

To support the safety concepts of the food industry, Heinrich Kipp Werk provides visually or metal-detectable standard and operating parts.

The visually detectable operating parts are colored ultramarine blue (similar to RAL5002) because blue is relatively uncommon in food products. According to the manufacturer, this makes these products easy to identify when they come into contact with food. Additionally, the operable parts meet increased hygiene requirements. They comply with all relevant standards, making them suitable for contact with food. Moreover, their geometries have been optimized to ensure easy hygienic cleaning: an example of this is the cross handle with a closed grip contour and smooth surface, which prevents the accumulation of dirt and facilitates thorough cleaning.

Kipp takes it a step further with their metal-detectable operating parts, which can be detected using induction technology. If fragments or entire components enter the production process, specialized detection systems can reliably identify and remove these foreign objects, even if they are invisible to the naked eye. This technology can detect fragments as small as 0.027 cm³ (approximately 3 mm × 3 mm × 3 mm) and remove them, ensuring that large quantities of product do not need to be discarded. This capability significantly enhances product safety and reduces the risk of costly recalls and waste in food production and other sensitive manufacturing environments.

All detectable operating parts from Kipp are made from EU10/2011 and FDA-compliant, glass-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic; the inserts are made from stainless steel 1.4404. The maximum operating temperature is 120 °C. Available are toggle-, wing-, star-, and cross-handles as well as knurled knobs and clamping levers.
