Kaeser Compressors: Efficient compressed air production of the highest quality

The food industry is one of the sectors that places particularly high demands on compressed air quality. To achieve this economically, Kaeser offers oil-free compressing screw compressors from the CSG series. These new models are reported to be particularly efficient and require less space.

According to the manufacturer, these screw compressors enable highly efficient compressed air generation while occupying 19 percent less floor space than the previous series. The models are available in air-cooled or water-cooled versions, with an integrated refrigeration dryer or i.HOC (Heat of Compression dryer), and for volume flows from 4 to 15 m³/min. For applications with variable compressed air demand, speed-controlled SFC versions are available. These features make the compressors suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, helping businesses reduce their operational footprint and improve energy efficiency.

Kaeser has incorporated its durable compressor blocks in the CSG series. The rotors are coated with a material that, according to the manufacturer, is particularly resistant to wear and high temperatures. Additionally, the PEEK coating is optimally adapted to the requirements of the pharmaceutical and food industries. It is biocompatible, FDA certified, and meets the European requirements for food contact materials. This makes these compressors especially suited for environments where contamination prevention and stringent health compliance are essential.

Energy consumption reduced and maximum operating pressure increased

The series is equipped with synchronous reluctance motors of energy efficiency class IE5 and features water jacket cooling on both compressor stages. According to the manufacturer, the fiber-free pulsation dampers of the CSG series operate broadly and with very low pressure loss. Such optimization measures have significantly improved the energy efficiency of the compressor, thereby substantially reducing energy consumption. Consequently, the CSG series is reported to deliver 16 percent more volume flow at the same motor rated power, and the maximum operating pressure has been increased from 10 to 11 bar.

To easily utilize compressor waste heat, Kaeser also offers the integrated adsorption dryer i.HOC. It uses the waste heat for the regeneration of the drying agent and is claimed to achieve oil-free compressed air with pressure dew points down to minus 30°C, even under challenging environmental conditions.

The integrated compressor control, Sigma Control 2, not only manages the operation of the compressor but also allows for connection to a higher-level compressed air management system. Additionally, it standardly monitors bearing and winding temperatures of the drive motor as well as vibrations in the compressor.
