Schaeffler: Rolling bearing and linear technology solutions for optimized processes

Where conveyor belts and rollers are used, tension bearing housing units are often in use. These widely used machine elements are also offered by Schaeffler in the Food series (FD version). In addition to corrosion-resistant bearings with food-grade lubricants, the housings of this series, RIBB..FD, are made of white plastic.

In the processing and packaging of food, profile rail guides are used in a variety of linear movements—such as the four-row ball recirculation unit from the KUVE..B series by Schaeffler. For all sizes in this series, a lubrication and sealing package specially optimized for the food industry is offered. It consists of a long-term lubrication unit KIT450, double-lipped additional wipers, non-grinding metal scrapers, and a food-grade flow grease. This combination ensures reliable operation and compliance with hygiene standards crucial in food handling environments.

Electric cylinders are widely used in food processing as actuators and for operating flaps, sliders, and closures. For particularly high hygiene requirements, Schaeffer offers the electric cylinders of the CASM series, among other things, in a stainless steel version.

Relubrication and condition monitoring

The intelligent lubrication solution, the Optime C1 lubricant dispenser, alongside the Optime vibration sensors, automatically networks with the gateway to form a mesh network and can be configured and operational within minutes. With the Optime Mobile app, the maintenance team can monitor the condition of all machinery such as pumps, mills, fans, geared motors, and aggregates, as well as all Optime C1 type lubricant dispensers. Beyond the savings achieved by reducing inspection rounds and manual measurements, the Optime Ecosystem significantly reduces costly, unplanned production downtime. This, in turn, increases the annual production volume.
