Europe Has Not Yet Missed The Boat When It Comes To Humanoids!

Although Europe has a strong industrial base—particularly in the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors and in terms of automation—investments, unit numbers and start-up ecosystems are currently still lagging behind the USA and China. However, according to the study, the continent has not yet lost touch! But it must act decisively! Thomas Kirschstein, Partner at Roland Berger, comments: "Europe has the technological capabilities to benefit from humanoid robots in the future. What is missing is the determination to invest in its own value chains and to scale up quickly." Humanoid robots, not least with the aforementioned operating costs, open up the possibility of making labor-intensive production economical again and bringing it to Europe. The prerequisite for this is a European value creation structure. This means more scaling, more investment and closer integration between industry, suppliers and technology providers. If this does not succeed, Europe risks becoming dependent on foreign technologies, even though there are over 20 start-ups for humanoids in Europe today. Without its own industrial value chain that can keep up with the USA and China, however, a significant proportion of the economic benefits will be enjoyed outside Europe, as can already be seen in parts of the AI industry today.
