With the new generation of "Evoline" axial rolling heads, LMT Fette offers an efficient, maintenance-friendly, and cost-effective solution for the process-reliable and automated production of large threads in high-strength materials. The product family includes four sizes—"F55 Evo," "F65 Evo," "F75 Evo," and "F85 Evo"—and is designed for high-strength steels up to 1400 N/mm2, a hardness range up to HRC 44, as well as thread sizes up to M100 and pitches up to 6 mm s (approx. 0.24 inches).

The performance of the new generation "Evoline" axial rolling heads is demonstrated by an example from the wind power sector. Threaded bolts with double-sided thread M64x6 and a thread length of 250 mm (approx. 9.8 inches) are manufactured from material of strength class 10.9 with a tensile strength of 1000 N/mm2.

The starting point was a rolling machine embedded in a heavily manual process chain. Time-intensive work steps, high handling effort, and correspondingly high personnel deployment had a noticeable impact on manufacturing and unit costs.

With the transition to the "Evoline" axial rolling head "F75 Evo," a fully automated, interconnected process with simultaneous machining was implemented, including an AKEA feed unit and automatic workpiece loading.

50 Percent less Manufacturing Time per Component

The result: around 50 percent less production time per component and thus double the output. "The practical example shows what is possible when the rolling process is integrated into a fully automated production structure. With the new generation of 'Evoline' axial rolling heads, the cost per component can be significantly reduced, and competitiveness can be sustainably enhanced," says Anita Tritschler.
