Kassow Robots, a subsidiary of Bosch Rexroth AG, has expanded its portfolio to include seven 7-axis cobots. The newly available models enable the space-efficient implementation of numerous automation tasks with payloads of up to 40 kg (88 pounds) or reach distances of up to 1,800 mm (70.9 inches).

With the KR1240 and KR1824 models—which Kassow describes as particularly powerful—the company is bridging the gap between collaborative and industrial applications. Compared to the previous product line, joint torques are 50 percent higher. Wrist speed has been increased by more than 20 percent, and mechanical stiffness by 40 percent.

With a maximum reach of 1,800 mm (70.9 inches), the KR1824 is designed for large work areas with heavy loads of up to 24 kg (53 pounds). With these features, the cobot excels not only in palletizing with high stack heights, but also in packaging, logistics, and end-of-line automation.

Designed for heavy-duty handling tasks, the KR1240 can automate numerous processes that were previously beyond the capabilities of a cobot. With a payload of up to 40 kg and a reach of 1,200 mm, the KR1240 is ideally suited for machine loading, heavy-duty pick-and-place operations, and the handling of metal parts and assemblies in demanding industrial environments.

High-Performance Mobile Robotics Solutions

The EDGE editions of the new models integrate a controller and a DC connector into a small base measuring just 194 × 229 mm (7.6 × 9.0 inches). With this option, available across all models, Kassow Robots enables highly compact and mobile automation solutions without an external controller, including two-arm manipulation using two highly flexible 7-axis cobots and an AMR or AGV as the base.

The simultaneous release of the Kassow Robots Connector app for ctrlX Automation from Bosch Rexroth brings together three developments: the increased mechanical performance of the new models, compact EDGE versions with integrated controllers, and open connectivity to devices running ctrlX OS and the associated ecosystem. This unique combination now enables high-performance mobile robot solutions for heavy loads and long ranges that can be seamlessly and efficiently integrated into the overarching factory automation system.

In all KR models, the additional degree of freedom allows the elbow (J7) to change position while maintaining the same tool pose. This enables the cobots to work close to the base, reach around obstacles, and perform complex movements in confined spaces. This is particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized businesses looking to retrofit manual processes with automation.
