The robotic coup in terms of part cleaning and packaging

Once a workpiece carrier trolley is completely loaded with machined parts, an operator removes it and transports it to the parts cleaning system, which is automated with Yaskawa 4- and 6-axis robots of the types SG650 and Motoman GP50. To ensure higher autonomy, a total of three trolley spaces are available, with the robot having access to two spaces. The third space is exclusively for the operator to change the trolleys. This arrangement ensures uninterrupted automatic operation. In the case of the continuous cleaning system, the dirty side is separated from the clean side. The GP50 handles the loading with the uncleaned pipes, which it places on a feed belt. After the brushing, deburring, and cleaning process, the parts leave the system on the clean side via a conveyor belt.

From this, a fast Yaskawa Scara SG650 robot takes over the handling of the parts. The robot very dynamically places the pipes into a station where they are rotationally aligned using a laser sensor based on the holes. In the final work step, another GP50 picks up the pipes and places them in wooden boxes for further transport in a position-oriented manner. In order to achieve the highest possible packing density in the boxes, EGS Automation has developed a special gripper that grips the pipes not at the circumference, but in their radial holes, and can thus place them close together. With this, ESG Automation has fully mastered the tasks with Yaskawa robots, as Watts Industrie Deutschland finally confirms.
