The Efficiency of the Cooling System Brought in Subsidies

Rymoplast also benefits from the so-called winter relief, as Technotrans further explains. The principle is as simple as it is effective: as soon as the outside temperature is lower than the required return temperature of the process water, cooling is no longer actively generated by the compressors but passively via the outside air in the free cooler. In our regions, the cooling units can be completely shut down or at least significantly relieved for many months of the year. Compared to a conventional compression cooling system without free cooling, the Technotrans system reduces annual power consumption in Markranstädt by around 650 megawatt-hours. This corresponds to a reduced CO2 output of approximately 480,000 kilograms per year (approx. 1.05 million lbs)—a saving of nearly 40 percent. Due to these favorable figures, Rymoplast received investment funding from the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). "Technotrans not only supported us technically but also provided advisory assistance during the initial consultation (Geratrade) to supply the necessary proofs for funding eligibility," Langenhof notes. For example, the pipelines were specially insulated to minimize thermal losses and more securely meet the funding criteria.

The Technotrans Cooling System Can Grow if Needed

For Rymoplast, however, beyond the cooling technology itself, trust in the partner was also decisive. A visit to the Technotrans plant in Meinerzhagen during the planning phase revealed that this was not just about assembling purchased components but real engineering expertise, as Rymoplast emphasizes. This expertise was also evident in the flexibility during the plant expansion. Technotrans designed the system from the outset to allow modular growth. While it initially supplied two extrusion lines at its launch in 2022, the planned expansion to a third line took place in May 2025. However, the connections and controls were already prepared. The integration of the additional pumps and the adjustment of capacity went smoothly, reports Langenhof.

Operational Reliability through Remote Maintenance and HMI Touch Panel

An important component for operational reliability is the integration of the system into digital monitoring. Through a remote maintenance interface, Technotrans technicians can access the controls directly when needed, analyze parameters, and often resolve issues without having to be physically on-site. At the same time, Rymoplast's maintenance staff have full insight into parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow rate at all times via a large HMI touch panel and mirrored desktops at their workstations. "For us, the system is an absolute all-inclusive package," summarizes Langenhof. A maintenance contract has been concluded, and even the necessary additives for the cooling water are sourced directly from Technotrans to ensure that the chemistry works in every sense of the word.
