In view of dwindling ammunition stocks due to the wars in Ukraine and Iran, the US government is turning to domestic industry. According to the Wall Street Journal, this includes General Motors and Ford.

The Trump administration is pushing American manufacturers to take on a greater role in weapons production. As the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, high-ranking defense officials have already held preliminary talks with the top managers of several major corporations. According to people familiar with the discussions, GM CEO Mary Barra and Ford CEO Jim Farley were among those involved. In addition to the car manufacturers, companies such as GE Aerospace and the vehicle and machine manufacturer Oshkosh were also involved.
