With its electric motors, Bosch achieves an efficiency of up to 98 percent while simultaneously increasing the power density. A key factor in this is the new winding technology. In addition, the components have a rotor oil cooling system which, according to Bosch, optimally dissipates the heat. Another decisive advantage lies in the scalable platform architecture: the length of the electric motor can be varied depending on the required power and can be installed in different axle variants with little effort. Advantage: The combination of high efficiency, innovative cooling, optimized winding technology and scalable platform architecture results in a compact design that reduces weight, installation space and ultimately system costs.

Seven Electric Motors Per Minute

By 2026, the company plans to produce more than seven million components for electric driving. Around seven Bosch electric motors currently roll off the production line every minute worldwide. In addition to Mercedes-Benz, the supplier is also working with other car manufacturers in the field of electromobility. In India, for example, a joint venture with TataAutocomp Systems aims to develop, industrialize and manufacture electric axles for the Indian market. Bosch has also established itself as a technology partner in China. "We work with almost all Chinese car manufacturers, but also with numerous international car manufacturers operating in China," explains Marco Zehe, Chairman of the Bosch Electrified Motion division. Bosch has been producing for a large number of car manufacturers based there for more than a decade and supplies more than 30 customers with solutions for electric driving.

E-mobility in Our Sights

From silicon carbide chips to complete drive solutions—Bosch offers various solutions in the field of electromobility. In addition to the eAxle, the company now also supplies X-in-1 solutions in which several components such as the electric motor, power electronics, transmission and energy management are bundled into highly integrated systems.
