Where there are manufacturing technical limits even with micro tools in turning and milling, modern laser technology comes into play, as Citizen further explains. For example, ultra-fine, filigree details such as webs for medical technology components can be produced with very high precision using a laser. But in order not to negate the production advantage gained through time losses when changing over, Citizen combines precision turning and laser cutting in a single machine. Reißig on this: "The combination of turning and laser machining without reclamping the workpiece is possible on almost every Citizen machine from a 20-mm material diameter." In addition to the high precision, the exact reproducibility is convincing - mainly because all sub-processes can take place on one machine. This gives the user crucial competitive advantages.

Turning becomes more flexible with more tools

In addition to process reliability and precision improvement, quality optimization, increased productivity, and reduced idle times are constantly in focus at Citizen. The ATC technology (Automatic Tool Changer) for automatic tool change is a recent example of this. For instance, ATC multiplies the number of tools in the Cincom L20-XII with the B-axis. With this boost in performance for this high-tech lathe, simultaneous front and back machining in superimposed mode can be optimally implemented. This allows the machinist any flexible machining freedoms.
