WSCAD promised a world premiere at the press conference and introduced Electrix AI, the first E-CAD software with integrated AI support. This is supposed to automate even complex tasks that previously required many manual steps in seconds. This significantly accelerates design processes, with WSCAD claiming up to 99 percent. "Electrix AI fundamentally changes the way design processes in electrical engineering are carried out," promises Axel Zein, CEO of WSCAD GmbH.

For Zein, AI is a productivity booster because its use can generate growth. Therefore, WSCAD has developed the AI Copilot as an interface to AI. By clicking on the small button with three stars, the chat field opens, and the AI accompanies the user. The software responds to voice or text commands, checks designs, corrects errors, and adapts to the user's needs. "Instead of searching and manually constructing, you now ask the AI Copilot and delegate tasks," Zein explains. According to Zein, material lists, macros, and components are created and placed in a fraction of the time previously required. Whereas almost 30 clicks were once required to create a material list, now the command "Create a material list" is sufficient, and the list is ready in a few seconds.

Possible use cases for the AI Copilot

The possibilities that the AI Copilot is supposed to offer are vast. Zein elaborates on a few:

  • Placing macros: In just 15 seconds, four macros can be placed on a new page; traditional methods would have taken five minutes.

  • Check work for errors: Using the command "Find the errors in this project," Electrix AI searches the circuit diagram and identifies issues such as open connections, missing assignments, or components. The analysis takes only a few seconds and replaces time-consuming, manual checks.

  • Answers to technical questions: Answers to questions, such as regarding wire cross-sections, are instantly available. The command "Give me a copper wire, blue, 24V DC, 64A" is enough, and a suitable wire attribute with a cross-section of 16 mm² is already attached to the mouse pointer.

When it comes to data protection, WSCAD has considered many aspects: the IP address is hidden, the chat is cleared after each session, the project data is not stored, and there is no need for ChatGPT access.

The key against time pressure and skilled labor shortage

In addition to saving time, ease of use is also a major advantage. The AI provides specialized E-CAD knowledge and learns from user inputs. This knowledge is intended to improve efficiency in the long run. Less experienced users can now take on tasks that were previously reserved for experts. At the same time, experienced designers can focus on complex projects with significantly less time investment.

"The new division of labor increases productivity and helps companies better cope with growing demands," Zein is confident. He sees the greatest advantages initially in dragging macros onto pages and automating "diligent tasks." In the future, when both AI and users are trained, more creative tasks are also conceivable.

The new AI features are included at no extra cost in all WSCAD versions.
