Smart balls, e-commentators, race for the wonder shoe
Football boots with studs from the beginning of the 20th century (according to DE-PS 220 831): A particular problem with the first stud shoes was that the studs pressed through the sole over time, which was uncomfortable for the player on the one hand, and also made the shoes unusable after a short time. To prevent this, the soles had to be provided with special reinforcements, e.g. rigid wooden slats between the tread and the insole. The illustration shows the side view of such a football boot.
