At AMB Show 2024, the experts from the Römheld Group will be presenting complete systems and components for the reliable, automated clamping of workpieces. These include vices, clamping and support elements, media couplings, zero-point clamping technology and hydraulic units.
Automated through to single-piece production: With vices from Römheld, clamping jaws can also be changed automatically using robots.

In addition to its proven range, the clamping technology specialist will be exhibiting clamping elements that can be configured quickly and easily by the user for the first time in Stuttgart, Germany. This includes compact swing clamps with robust swing mechanism and swing clamps without swing stroke. Users can configure individual clamping systems from a wide range of variants and components. These are available from the manufacturer at short notice. They are assembled there as required.
The clamping technology specialist will be showcasing its recently developed clamping elements with sensors, the "Stark.emd" electrical media coupling and the "Stark.intelligence" clamping system to enable manufacturing companies to create a smart factory with the help of automation and digitalization. The latter can be used to digitalize clamping fixtures end-to-end.
In future, manufacturing companies will be able to achieve efficient and flexible production, including the production of individual workpieces in alternation without operating personnel, by automatically changing the clamping jaws currently being presented by Römheld. The manufacturer will be demonstrating this at the AMB 2024 trade fair, using an automation cell as an example to show the properties and respective advantages of alternative clamping media. The hydraulic double-acting machine vice "Hilma.ash", the electric vice "Hilma.ase" and the mechanical vice "Hilma.mcp" will be demonstrated side by side. With the help of these vices and their numerous variants, automation systems can be configured for almost any application and for different media. To this end, the clamping systems feature continuous condition monitoring, high availability and great variability.
Compact, strong and double-acting
For use on machines with a small working area, Römheld is exhibiting its compact, double-acting "Power Clamp" centric clamps. The pneumatic version clamps with a clamping force of up to 14 kN. Hydraulically driven versions even achieve 20 kN. These centric clamps are suitable for both internal and external clamping. They center with an accuracy of +/-0.01 mm. Available equipment options include monitoring of the clamping paths, sealing air, quick-change jaws and recognition with an RFID chip.
Electromechanical clamping
According to the manufacturer, its electromechanical swing clamps with integrated control are currently unique. Römheld is introducing a further variant to the existing series. In addition to various function controls, a self-locking spindle drive contributes to high process reliability and safe operation. If the energy supply is disconnected, the clamping force remains unalterable. For automation, all commands and information can be transmitted via IO-Link connection.
The swing clamps are designed in particular for fixture construction, assembly and handling as well as transport and testing technology. They are also suitable for automotive manufacturers to replace pneumatic clamping technology. Further variants of electromechanical clamping systems and matching components will be available soon.
Series extended
The "Hilma.ash" series of hydraulic clamping, double-acting machine vices now also includes a version with 100 mm wide jaws for the first time. The centric clamps for 5-axis machines have a clamping force of 23 kN at an operating pressure of 200 bar. Thanks to their 70 mm clamping stroke, they can also hold components of significantly different dimensions or different blank shapes in quick succession.
A quick-change system ensures that clamping jaws can be changed automatically and quickly. This allows the centric clamps to be flexibly adapted to different clamping situations. For automated workpiece and pallet changes in combination with a robot, they can replace a large number of conventional clamping systems with a small clamping path. An optional stroke measuring system enables different clamping ranges to be set automatically.
