Walter: Chip Control in a Double Pack

With the UE6 and RE6, Walter expands its GD26 portfolio with two new insert geometries for medium machining operations. The Tübingen company now offers a total of 12 geometries in 7 highly wear-resistant Tiger·tec Gold grades for parting, grooving, and copy turning. The UE6 geometry is characterized by low cutting forces and very good chip constriction during grooving and parting. RE6 full-radius inserts are designed for excellent surface finishes and optimal chip control, especially in dynamic turning. Thanks to its large chip-breaking range, the UE6 geometry enables reliable chip evacuation in all grooving operations. The RE6 geometry provides ideal conditions for copy and back turning. Both variants are designed for the Groov·tec GD parting system, whose stability allows for the lowest to above-average high cutting parameters.

Equipped with Tiger·tec Gold indexable inserts, Groov·tec GD is universally applicable for all ISO materials. The system's high stability is primarily due to the patented double-tooth profile. It prevents the cutting insert from being pushed sideways out of the insert seat. An elevated central tooth also secures the insert against incorrect installation. Besides the significantly increased stability compared to market-standard prism clamping, the toothing minimizes wear and reduces micro-vibrations. This increases the tool life by about 50%. In combination with the (optional) precision cooling, users benefit from shorter cycle and processing times, higher productivity, and process reliability. In addition to precision advantages for demanding operations, Groov·tec GD provides ideal conditions for unmanned manufacturing and series production.
