Long-term support for new release

Carina Heil, Head of Business Operations Automation Software, presented the updates in ctrlX Core 2.6, which is based on Ubuntu Core 22: Backup and restore functions enhance data security, and the distribution of non-real-time and real-time applications to specific CPU cores has been optimized. Lastly, the boot time has been reduced.

The system is CRA (Cyber Resilience Act)-ready, thus supporting the new EU legislation that will be applicable from 2026/2027. This legislation mandates that all devices connected to networks must be secured by the manufacturer throughout their entire lifespan. The manufacturer must actively search for vulnerabilities, publish any that are found, and close them as soon as possible. Any actively exploited vulnerability must be reported within 24 hours. Bosch Rexroth relieves users of ctrlX devices of these complex obligations by integrating the necessary functions directly into the platform and taking care of the required security patches and notifications. With a ctrlX control system that is always kept up-to-date, a machine is consequently CRA-ready for life.

Congatec, also a new partner, is a technology company focusing on embedded and edge computing products based on Computer-on-Modules. Users of these modules gain access to the entire ctrlX solution portfolio and a multitude of apps by implementing ctrlX OS on the components. Pre-fabricated hardware and software modules simplify the development of even complex embedded applications, including edge and cloud integration. This shortens the time-to-market while simultaneously offering high design security.
