BMW M unveiled the Concept Neue Klasse at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The concept car offers a glimpse into the brand’s design language and its all-electric model generation. It features powerful proportions, flared wheel arches, a pronounced shoulder line, and an aerodynamically shaped body.

M-specific aerodynamic features include aerodynamic exterior mirrors in BMW M colors. An air outlet in the V-shaped front hood helps cool the electric drivetrain. The front end is also characterized by a forward-sloping “shark nose” and a newly developed lighting signature with an integrated kidney grille.

Four Electric Motors in the Concept Neue Klasse

Technically, the Concept Neue Klasse is based on the new BMW M E-Drive powertrain. This system combines four electric motors with the central control software “BMW M Dynamic Performance Control.” The software runs on a central control unit and controls the drive and braking systems on a per-wheel basis.

The powertrain also includes an 800-volt architecture and a high-voltage battery with a capacity of more than 100 kilowatt-hours. An M-specific optimized version of the sixth-generation cylindrical cells is said to offer advantages in terms of power output and charging. BMW has not yet released official performance figures. The production model is scheduled to hit the market in 2027.

Design Feature: “M Yellow Lights”

For the first time, BMW M is using so-called “M Yellow Lights” as a distinctive brand feature. The yellow lighting elements are inspired by GT race cars and the BMW M Hybrid V8 race car. They are complemented by three-dimensional “Track Lights” in the outer sections of the front apron.

The front apron incorporates design elements from sailing with a trimaran-style bumper. The three-part design supports the front splitter. At the rear, the track lights are once again combined with a trimaran design. A free-floating diffuser and a ducktail spoiler are intended to improve aerodynamic performance and increase downforce on the rear axle.

Natural Fibers And New Colors

BMW uses natural fiber materials in both the exterior and interior, including on the front splitter, in the hood vents, and in the diffuser. For the first time, natural fibers are integrated into the roof graphic featuring M branding. The concept car features the newly developed Monza Red Metallic paint finish and comes with red-and-blue-coded center-lock wheels.

Inside, the driver and passengers sit in newly developed bucket seats featuring structural elements made of natural fiber composites. The two-tone seat covers in Bathurst Blue and Berry Red are made of merino leather. Red five-point harnesses complete the interior.

For the first time, BMW M is using black nubuck leather for the steering wheel, door panels, and roll bar. The floating dashboard is covered in black knit fabric and features a backlit, M-specific hexagon graphic. Red accents on the gear selector, shift paddles, and digital displays add further highlights.
