What happens to the VDMA "Industry 4.0" forum.

Since 2014, the VDMA "Industry 4.0" forum has dealt with all questions about the "intelligent" networking of machines and processes in industry. This led to actionable recommendations being developed and passed on. The results of this decade include, among other things, the further development of the world language of production, which has been bundled in the VDMA Department of Machine Information Interoperability since 2021 and currently offers over 70 standardized machine interfaces based on OPC UA; as well as the related Umati initiative. The achieved interoperability is considered an important basis for Manufacturing-X. It should now support the maxim "plug-and-work" in the shop floor. The working group Wireless Communications for Machines made it possible to tap into industrial-grade wireless connectivity for "intelligently" networked production. The IDTA (Industrial Digital Twin Association) has been working since its foundation to further develop the administration shell as a basis for standardized digital twins. In addition, around 600 companies in the VDMA's Software and Digitalization division are participating. They want to act as an important transformer of the industry. As is well known, mechanical engineering plays a dual role as a user and provider of corresponding systems at the center of the development of Industry 4.0 and Manufacturing-X. More can be learned from April 22 at the Hannover Messe in Hall 8.
