India plays an important role as a growth market for Renault. With "futuREady India", the French car manufacturer is now starting the local implementation of the new strategic plan in India. The aim is to drive growth both locally and globally and to strengthen development and production capacities.

India is to become one of Renault's three most important markets worldwide by 2030 - this is the aim of the "futuREady India" strategic plan, the adaptation of the "futuREady" strategic plan presented in March for the Asian country. To this end, the company is launching its largest product renewal cycle to date in India: by 2030, the portfolio will be expanded to seven models that use a next-generation digital and electronic architecture as well as various drive technologies and are specially tailored to the needs of the local market.

In addition, the new strategic plan positions India as a cornerstone of the global value chain and transforms the country into a technology competence center - for the local market and worldwide. By 2030, annual exports of two billion euros are to be generated in the areas of vehicles, research and development and components.

Focus on New Technologies and Drive Trains

Renault continues to focus on building a customer base in India that favors vehicles with attractive design, new technologies and electrified powertrains. By 2030, India is expected to be one of the top three markets for the Renault brand globally. To achieve this, the brand will be positioned higher - by offering new technologies and powertrains.

In order to expand the product portfolio to a total of seven models by 2030, the introduction of four new vehicles is on the agenda - including the Renault Duster, which was presented in January 2026 and has already met with acceptance among Indian customers. As part of the "futuREady" presentation, the Renault Group also unveiled the "Bridger Concept", which gives a preview of a new compact SUV in the B segment - a true multi-energy vehicle that also includes an electric version.

The seven vehicles are based on two complementary platforms: the multi-energy RGEP platform for the entry level and the modular RGMP small platform for B- and C-segment vehicles, which will initially be launched on the Indian market and developed with a multi-energy approach to offer combustion engines, hybrid drives and electric drives as required.

In addition, the brand aims to build a lasting relationship with Indian users through the "Renault Forever" initiative, which is based on trust, service quality and a simplified customer experience, including a 7-year warranty.

Technology and Export Center

As part of futuREady India, the French want to establish their presence in India with 15,000 employees as a center for the local Indian market and for the world.

The company operates one of its largest development centers worldwide in Chennai. 6,000 engineers and IT specialists from the fields of vehicle architecture, software, simulation and life cycle upgrades work together here. In the future, the site will play an even more important role within the Group by developing platforms, vehicle architectures and technologies for projects in India as well as for global markets.

Renault now has full ownership of the Chennai manufacturing plant, which significantly strengthens its ability to localize production, deepen supplier integration and optimize overall supply chains. Leveraging India's strong competitiveness in sourcing, the site will be developed as a strategic export hub for vehicles, components and related services to other regions, particularly South America. The Group's goal is to generate annual exports of two billion euros by 2030 in the areas of vehicles, research and development and components. (se)
