 On September 15, 2026, Siemens announced the launch of “Meet at the Machine”—a new initiative that brings together machine builders, software, and automation technologies to accelerate innovation in the machine tool industry and help manufacturers become productive more quickly.

Increase Customer Productivity

“Meet at the Machine” provides a framework for Siemens and machine builders to jointly deliver integrated machining solutions that address real-world manufacturing challenges. The initiative aims to increase customer productivity and improve quality and performance. It combines engineering software, automation hardware, and machine expertise into a single solution and helps machine builders create differentiated value.

Today, manufacturers face increasing complexity, a shortage of skilled workers, and growing pressure to become productive more quickly. While advances in software, automation, and digitalization are continually opening up new possibilities, many companies still face the challenge of integrating these technologies into efficient production processes.

Creating a Consistent Digital Thread

Siemens is convinced that the next step in machining innovation is to create a continuous digital thread. This connects engineering, programming, virtual validation, and execution to ensure a new level of productivity from the moment the machine is first turned on. By improving the flow of data throughout the entire lifecycle of parts manufacturing, companies can reduce complexity, accelerate ramp-up, and lay the groundwork for continuous improvement.

The Solution Combines Software, Automation, and Machine Expertise

The first phase of this initiative, developed in collaboration with TRAK Machine Tools, focuses on getting parts manufacturers up and running from day one. It addresses one of the most common challenges when purchasing a new machine: the time between delivery and the start of actual productive machining. The solution combines software, automation, and machine expertise into a connected workflow that enables manufacturers to program, simulate, and validate production while the machine is still being built.

Significantly Reduce the Startup Time

Traditionally, many programming, validation, and training activities do not begin until after a machine has been installed. The new initiative shifts these activities to an earlier stage in the process. This allows manufacturers to prepare for production even before the machine is physically delivered, which significantly reduces the ramp-up time.

As part of the initiative, Siemens plans to work with machine builders to develop further solutions that address key manufacturing challenges through collaborative innovation.
