The Chinese car manufacturer BYD is showcasing another SUV, the Atto 2, at the Brussels Motor Show (until January 19). It is set to hit the market in Germany in March. The over 4.30-meter-long five-door vehicle features a modern and pleasing design (approx. 14 ft long). Striking details include a "floating" roof, flush-fitting door handles, and body-colored accents in the sill area.

A unique feature of the Atto 2 is the iron phosphate battery ("Cell-to-Body") integrated into the body structure, which offers advantages in space compared to the usual installation in a module casing in the underbody. In the Atto 2, the upper cover of the battery pack also serves as the interior floor.

Compact car for about 40,000 euros (41.196 USD)

BYD promises good space for passengers and a trunk that can be expanded from 400 to 1,340 liters. In addition, there are haptically pleasant materials such as padded surfaces. Typical for the brand is the huge central display, which can be oriented either vertically or horizontally.

The Atto 2 will initially be launched with a small 45 kWh battery providing a range of over 300 kilometers (approx. 186 miles). A 130 kW front motor powers the drive. A further version with a larger battery is planned later in the year. BYD has not yet provided details on the prices, which are expected to range between 35,000 and 40,000 euros (between 36.046,50 and 41.196 USD).
