Drive Technology Miniature Ball Screw for Extreme Conditions
In highly dynamic compact drives, the demands placed on linear axes are increasing dramatically. A Czech specialist is demonstrating, with a ball screw just 8 millimeters thick, how precision and service life can be achieved even under extreme thermal and mechanical loads.
The trend toward more compact designs, weight reduction, and increased dynamics is prompting machine builders to use ever smaller yet more powerful mechanical components. The Czech company KSK Precise Motion has therefore developed a miniature ball screw (KGT) with a diameter of 8 millimeters (0.315 inches) and a lead of 2 millimeters (0.079 inches) for demanding applications in high-performance drives. However, these dimensions present specific tribological and dynamic challenges.
