Microsoft Releases 6502 BASIC Under An Open-Source License
One of the first computers to use the MOS 6502 BASIC developed by Microsoft was the KIM-1 from Commodore. It was a simple single-board computer designed in 1976 by MOS engineer Chuck Peddle to demonstrate the functionality and capabilities of the MOS 6502 processor. However, as the board could easily be expanded with a keyboard and a monitor, the system found great demand among hobbyists who did not want to build a home computer themselves.
