According to the database of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) and the European recall portal Safety Gate, a fender was installed incorrectly in diesel and hybrid cars manufactured between August 2022 and September 2025.

This could have damaged the fuel line and caused fuel to leak. The cars could suddenly lose power—meaning they would no longer be able to accelerate—which would increase the risk of an accident.

Mercedes-Benz announced that, as a remedy, its in-house service organization would inspect and repair the shielding plate and the fuel line on the affected vehicles. The scheduled service visit is expected to take about one hour.
