The value of exports from Japan increased by 23.2 percent year-on-year, as reported by the Finance Ministry in Tokyo. This is the strongest rise since 2022—exceeding analysts' expectations once again. In June, Japanese exports had already climbed by 19.3 percent, as noted. Demand for cars was also robust. Additionally, the weaker yen, which makes Japanese products more competitive in foreign markets, contributed to this. In July, the currency had fallen to its lowest level against the dollar in 40 years. However, imports also rose surprisingly sharply, as further stated. The ministry reported an increase of 27.8 percent in imports. The trade balance deficit widened from 409.9 billion to 634.5 billion yen (approximately 3.4 billion euros / approx. 4.4 billion USD).
