Dekra and Catarc intend to work together to support key developments shaping the automotive industry, such as decarbonization and electrification, automated and connected mobility, and increasing globalization. The scope of the collaboration includes research on European and Chinese regulatory requirements, type approval and homologation, market surveillance and conformity of production, vehicle testing, compliance with the EU Battery Regulation, as well as cybersecurity and “digital trust” services.

Collaboration Is Becoming Increasingly Important

As an independent institution, Catarc aims to drive scientific and technological progress in the Chinese automotive industry. Its range of services covers the entire value chain of technical services for the automotive industry, including policy research, standards and regulations, research and development, product development, testing, inspection, and certification, information consulting, and technical design. “In light of the ongoing transformation in the global automotive industry and the expansion of Chinese automotive companies into international markets, cooperation between leading technical organizations in China and abroad is becoming increasingly important,” explained Zhou Hua, Vice President of Catarc.

“With this agreement, we have laid a solid foundation for closer cooperation between Catarc and Dekra,” added Peter Laursen, Chief Operating Officer and member of Dekra’s Executive Board. “Catarc’s technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the Chinese automotive industry, combined with Dekra’s global network and international market expertise, can help global automotive companies meet the increasingly complex requirements across various technologies and markets.”
