Approximately 131,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks worldwide need to be recalled, according to a report published in the database of the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), which was confirmed by the company based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart (Germany). According to the defect description, corrosion on the contacts of an improperly installed chip in the battery can lead to heat development, potentially resulting in a fire. Consequently, the chip must be disconnected. In Germany, 27,084 trucks are potentially affected. The affected models are the Actros, Arocs, and E-Actros trucks produced between late March 2021 and late October 2025. According to Daimler Truck, the chip is sealed with synthetic resin by the supplier. In isolated cases, this sealing was apparently performed inadequately, which may promote corrosion effects. However, Daimler Truck has so far reported only individual incidents related to this issue and no personal injuries.
