The Issue of the EU And the Current Threat of Tariffs

In the tariff dispute with the EU, US President Donald Trump has set a deadline for the implementation of the trade agreement. He actually wanted to impose new tariffs this week, with imports of cars and trucks from the EU to be hit—an increase from 15 to 25 percent. If the EU does not fulfill its part of the agreement by the USA's birthday, i.e. July 4, the tariffs will unfortunately immediately rise to a much higher level, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. After all, he had waited patiently for the EU to fulfill its part of the trade agreement. It was promised that the EU would fulfill its part of the deal and reduce its tariffs to zero in accordance with the agreement, Trump continued. According to Trump, his latest threat was preceded by a very good discussion with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. In the EU, negotiations are still ongoing between the European Parliament and the member states, which are necessary for the full implementation of the customs deal, as no agreement was reached at an initial meeting, according to reports.
