The development service provider Cognizant Mobility is supporting BMW with the integration of modern AI tools. According to the EDL, the aim is to expand the manufacturer's tool landscapes. Generative AI" will be used to automatically generate and test software modules.

A central element of the cooperation is a jointly developed mobile data recorder that is already being used in BMW's test vehicles. According to Cognizant, this is able to independently detect errors in the vehicle software and ECU communication thanks to AI.

Voice Command for Data Analysis

The highlight of the system: developers can give the data recorder instructions using natural language. The AI automatically converts these commands into corresponding database queries. According to Cognizant, this lowers the entry barriers for complex analytical tasks and also enables other departments to benefit directly from data analysis.

According to the report, AI saves a massive amount of time when evaluating the collected data volumes. A process of data collection and error identification that used to take days can now be reduced to just a few minutes.

About Cognizant Mobility

The cooperation builds on deep historical roots: Cognizant Mobility—then still operating under the name ESG or ESG Mobility—has been working with BMW as an IT, electronics and system integration partner since 1998. Today, the company says it supports the car manufacturer with over 800 employees in various areas, from vehicle testing to the backend of BMW Connected Drive.
