Record Exports Despite Trade Tensions China's Auto Industry Reports New Export Record

After just eight months, China has already surpassed its total exports from the previous year. While the domestic market is faltering, NEV exports are offsetting the losses—and the EU is calling for voluntary restrictions.

In the first eight months of this year, Chinese automakers sold more vehicles overseas than they did in all of last year. From January through August, approximately 7.2 million cars were exported, according to the Chinese business magazine Caixin. The total for all of 2025 was 7.1 million.
