China's imports of machinery and electronics rose by 31.6 percent in the first eight months. Semiconductors account for nearly half of these imports.
Since the beginning of the year, Chinese factories have imported significantly more machinery and electrical goods from abroad than in the previous year. The country's imports have been growing faster than its exports for the past six months—a trend that Washington and Brussels have been complaining about for years.
