Battery production in Germany has increased significantly. However, the ZVEI warns of dependencies—especially regarding battery cells.
The production of batteries in Germany was higher than ever before in 2025, reports the Association of the Electrical and Digital Industry, ZVEI. According to them, the production of lithium-ion batteries increased by nearly one-third to 4.6 billion euros (approx. $4.9 billion). Across all battery chemicals, production reached a new all-time high of 8.1 billion euros (approx. $8.7 billion) following a low point in 2024, according to the association.
