Adhesive bonds are generally used in the production of automotive displays in order to meet the increasing demands for slim frames that are as thin as possible. Together with Tesa, Aumovio has developed a solution that combines adhesive technology with optimized material usage and future-oriented concepts. It is designed to enable a controlled adhesive connection that can be released if necessary, facilitating corrections during production and repairs over the entire product life cycle.

Series Integration in the Second Quarter of 2026

The new system also plays an important role because it combines the advantages of viscoelastic adhesive bonds with properties that support recyclability: The bond requires no curing times and reliably compensates for material expansion over the entire temperature range commonly used in the automotive environment. With a strip width of 0.08 inches, it enables narrow display edges, as known from smartphones.

At the same time, the bond can be released in a controlled manner: display assemblies can be selectively replaced and reworked during the production process or when servicing is required, without having to replace the entire display module. The partners use adhesive tapes with debonding-on-demand technology, which enables the targeted and simple separation of the adhesive bond.

This facilitates the targeted replacement of individual display units during the product life cycle, as well as recycling at the end of the vehicle's service life. According to Aumovio, it is in talks with car manufacturers about implementing recycling and repair programs for selected components.

With the official launch of their partnership, Aumovio and Tesa are now preparing the series integration of their solution for the second quarter of 2026. (se)
