Almer Technologies has developed an AR glasses called Arc 2, which is intended for use in the industry. The product is supposed to help companies simplify processes in production, assembly, inspection, maintenance, or logistics.

Too heavy and too expensive

More and more industrial companies are trying to integrate AR into their processes. "We often see that the expensively purchased AR glasses are left lying in the corner or a complex infrastructure causes high maintenance costs," reports Sebastian Beetschen, CEO of the Swiss technology company Almer Technologies.

Put on the glasses and get started right away

The Almer Arc 2 was developed by Beetschen and his team and weighs 179 grams. The glasses is ergonomically designed. It features a high-resolution see-through display and is quickly accepted by users. In addition, Almer offers a complete solution of hardware and software. "For our customers, we simply play the required software onto each pair of glasses before we deliver them," Beetschen describes the advantage of his solution. "This way, users can start work as soon as they receive the glasses. Complex programming on the customer side is completely eliminated."

Thanks to a monthly subscription system, the acquisition costs of the Arc 2 should also remain low. The system applies to both Almer's hardware and the necessary software that comes from partner Team-Viewer. In addition, the start-up takes care of the complete processing for the companies. In addition to the customer-specific configuration, Almer also takes care of distribution to the places of use. If a pair of glasses is damaged, the customer receives a replacement device within 48 hours.

Collaboration with tech giants

The technology start-up, for example, collaborates with the technology corporation TeamViewer. It also works closely with the American chip giant Qualcomm.
