Voith recently reported losses in its three sectors Hydro, Paper, and Turbo due to the economic downturn. In the financial year 2023/24, the group's result dropped to minus 247 million euros. However, in 22/23, a profit of 73 million euros was still recorded. Revenue fell to 5.23 billion euros (~$6 Billion). Adjustments to organizational structures and unfortunately also to staff numbers are currently under review.

Structural Problems in Germany are the Cause

This is part of a strategic development effort, which, according to management, will involve cutting up to 2,500 jobs. Germany plays a key role in these considerations. While the location has deep expertise and innovative strength, Voith also sees structural problems. Specifically mentioned were the well-known challenges such as high energy and labor costs, complex regulatory requirements, and significant bureaucratic burdens. What exactly will happen and how has not yet been detailed. Currently, Voith employs around 22,000 people worldwide in 60 countries. The numbers for the fiscal year 2024/25, which ended in September, are not yet available. A year ago, the technology group had still anticipated improvements in revenue and profit.
