Easily request transport vehicles via app

In the "Material Flow Kit," the mobile robots can serve up to nine stations. These include machines in sheet metal production, as well as manual workstations or shipping stations. Up to eight transfer positions for the transport goods can be determined per station. As soon as a production employee wants to transport their processed parts further, they request the mobile robot via the web app. Once the robot is there, the workpieces can be handed over to the vehicle on a pallet cart without leaving their workstation, as Trumpf emphasizes. The mobile robot can transport up to one ton of weight, making it suitable for a large portion of components in sheet metal production. Changes to route planning, such as when a machine changes location, can be made by the user in a supplied software tool, according to the manufacturer.

At the Trumpf in-house exhibition Intech, a smart way of automated material transport is also being presented and introduced to the market. The whole thing is called "Material Flow Kit." Sheets weighing up to one ton can be moved this way.(Image: Trumpf)

Smart control simplifies commissioning

As part of the commissioning, a service technician from Safelog guides the mobile robot through the factory—using a tablet, for example. The vehicle scans the environment and creates a virtual map of the premises. In the next step, the technician creates the route and the associated process steps at the individual stations in the software tool. Think of bending (image), punching, and/or laser cutting. Subsequently, the web application seamlessly transmits the transport order to the vehicle. Thus, the mobile robot can navigate autonomously and safely through the production. The "Material Flow Kit" is suitable for companies that wish to gradually digitize their production. Once users have gained some experience, it is advisable to take a look at Trumpf's Oseon software. This allows the material flow to be synchronized with the production plan, ensuring that material always automatically arrives where it's needed—without media disruptions and paperless.
