The Bosch technology group continues to rely on Stefan Hartung at the top. The contract with the Chairman of the Board of Management had already been regularly extended some time ago, according to a company spokesperson in Gerlingen near Stuttgart, Germany. No details were given. The "Handelsblatt" (German daily newspaper) had initially reported on this. According to the report, the contract has been extended by five years. It would then run until 2031.

The extension strengthens the Dortmund (Germany) native in turbulent times. Bosch is planning to cut around 22,000 jobs in Germany by 2030 in the mobility division alone. In addition, 2,400 jobs in the household appliance division BSH and the closure of power tool production in Leinfelden will also be cut. One in five jobs at Bosch in Germany is at risk.

The former McKinsey manager has led the foundation group for almost four years. Like his three predecessors Volkmar Denner, Franz Fehrenbach and Hermann Scholl, the 59-year-old, who holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, has the option of leading the Bosch Group for a decade. Hartung is only the seventh CEO after founder Robert Bosch in the 139-year history of the company, which manufactures industrial and building technology as well as automotive parts, semiconductors, household appliances and power tools.

Growth Expected in the Supply Business

Despite the crisis in the automotive industry, Bosch is again expecting slight growth in its supplier business this year. The company stated at the IAA Mobility trade fair in Munich that sales are expected to increase by just under two percent. The company is growing despite stagnating global vehicle production, weak demand and delays in electromobility and automated driving.

Last year, sales in the supplier division fell by 0.7 percent to $59 billion. Bosch's largest division accounts for more than 60 percent of total sales of over $95 billion.
