Schneider Electric introduces the Tesys Snap-in series motor contactors and motor protection switches with tool-free, intuitively operated terminal connections. With the new snap-in terminals, the electrical connection of a motor contactor or motor protection switch is made under optimal conditions within two seconds per conductor without any tools, and thus up to 96 percent faster than with conventional screw connections.

For a motor contactor with twelve contacts, up to six minutes of installation time can be saved in this way. The time and percentage figures determined by Schneider Electric refer to the comparison of Tesys Snap-in with screw terminals. Compared to spring systems or push-in solutions, the time advantage is less but still considerable.

Secure Contact Even after Vibrations

Another advantage is that the regular retightening required for screw terminals is no longer necessary. This is because the spring-based terminals do not loosen even under strong vibrations, such as when used in construction machinery. According to the manufacturer, the Tesys Snap-in motor contactors and motor protection switches also have the highest switching frequency on the market, making them particularly durable and sustainable.

The snap-in connection terminals are visible from the front and designed to click shut precisely when the conductor is fully inserted. This ensures that even less experienced staff or in tight spots, the conductor is correctly inserted and optimal contact closure is achieved.

Contact-Secure with Acoustic and Haptic Feedback

The tool-free connection technology with acoustic and haptic feedback also allows the Tesys Snap-in components to be wired quickly and contact-securely by robots in automated control cabinet construction. This is only significantly slower and more error-prone with conventional connection systems due to frequent tool changes and lack of feedback when properly inserting.

If the terminal is closed, a button extends forward which must be pressed to release the conductor again. Unlike conventional terminals, flexible and solid conductors can be inserted directly without a ferrule and remain contact-secure. Additional openings on the front of the terminals allow the insertion of test probes for testing purposes. The Tesys Snap-in motor contactors and motor protection switches, as well as other snap-in products, are available from June 2025.
