The Siemens Industrial Copilot is a generative AI-assisted assistant that can seamlessly connect with the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal, according to Siemens. This allows automation engineers to find answers to their questions more quickly, generate basic visualizations, and develop codes for programmable logic controllers (PLC) faster.

Microsoft language models optimize the Siemens AI product

This significantly reduces their workload. Routine tasks can also be outsourced to the Siemens Industrial Copilot, and the engineering of complex tasks is less prone to errors, as it continues. With long-term increasing quality and productivity, development times are significantly shortened. The language models from Microsoft Azure Open-AI-Service extend the Siemens Industrial Copilot, for example to enable the creation and optimization of software code for factory automation. The Siemens Industrial Copilot for TIA Portal Engineering will be available for download on the Siemens Xcelerator Marketplace from summer 2024.

An overview of the benefits of the AI innovation:

  • Design! The Siemens-Microsoft AI system enables brainstorming and the implementation of different design concepts. It supports prototyping and mock-ups to enable faster iterations and experiments;

  • Planning resources and priorities ensures efficient use of money, time and resources. This includes developing different scenarios, risk analyses and strategies;

  • Engineering is supported by generating, optimizing, and debugging automation code based on the input of Siemens engineers. This accelerates development cycles and reduces repetitive tasks and workloads;

  • In operation, the system enables production processes to be optimized and to communicate with machines in order to identify and solve problems more quickly.

  • In service, Siemens Industrial Copilot assists customer service with automated, customized recommendations for maintenance, updates, or new services.
