In electronics production, the number of variants, throughput requirements and the pressure for efficient production processes are constantly increasing. With this in mind, Dualis and Montratec have developed a customer-specific configuration tool for planning and simulating production layouts.

The focus here is on simplified planning of material flow and line layouts, for example for automated transport systems between assembly, mounting or testing. Users can configure layouts intuitively and simulate them directly if required, without the complexity of a complete simulation environment.

Digital Construction Kit for Production Layouts

The configurator is based on a component library that digitally maps the Montratec portfolio. In addition to mechanical components, sensor technology, control logic and automated processes are also taken into account. This means that planned layouts can not only be visualized, but also tested under realistic conditions. This allows potential bottlenecks to be identified at an early stage, especially in tightly scheduled electronics production.

Sales teams can create and visualize layouts for specific applications as early as the quotation phase—for example to illustrate line concepts or automation solutions. In later project phases, engineering and production planning benefit from reusable models and validated scenarios. This reduces coordination efforts, shortens project runtimes and increases planning reliability when introducing or expanding production lines.

Simulation As A Tool for More Efficient EMS Processes

The solution shows how simulation tools can be used specifically for concrete production environments. The adaptation to specific products and processes creates a practical planning tool that offers added value, particularly for electronics manufacturers with complex material flows.

The solution is not a freely available standard tool, but a customer-specific configurator developed on the basis of the commercial simulation platform Visual Components. In the future, the Conveyance portfolio will be further digitally mapped and made available for planning and simulation. The aim is to cover additional use cases in production planning and to further expand its use in the operational environment. (sb)
